Job Description:
The Telecom Engineer will work within a global Network Services team in a Fortune 500 company. This is a global Telecom/VoIP Engineer role, responsible for the implementation, analytics, and technical guidance in Voice (VoIP) and Network operational support. The Telecom Engineer will ensure compliance to established system architecture, regulations and security policies, follow standards and best practices, and author and maintain support documentation. The engineer will also work and participate in all areas of networking ranging from routing, switching, VPN, and MPLS.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Subject matter expert for Telecom services including VoIP, UC, and Call Center
• Works with business partners and carriers on projects and participate in negotiations and provide technical analysis for vendor contracts for new/existing products and/or services.
• Coordinate and participate on implementation of new telecom services
• Provision, implements, documents, and maintains voice circuits per solution design
• Monitor, analyze, and report capacity of VoIP solution system utilization and perform growth analysis/capacity planning.
• Work closely with Voice and Network Architects on VoIP and UC development
• Function as a Tier-2 escalation point during major outages or critical downtime windows
• Ensure Network and Voice regulations and legal requirements are maintained globally
• Document enterprise telecommunication infrastructure components
• Must be able to work occasional weekends and after hours
• Must be able to travel domestically and internationally 15%
Job Requirements
Essential Education/Experience:
• Bachelor degree
• 3+ years of experience in global enterprise environment
• 3+ years of experience as a Voice Engineer responsible for enterprise telecommunication
• Certification on administration of Avaya systems preferred
• Extensive experience in VoIP with Avaya Communication Manager, Session Manager, System Manager, Application Enablement Service, Agile Communication Environment, G450/G430, Modular Messaging, Call Center, Meeting Exchange, One-X application suite, global dial plan, least cost routing, CDR, ACME Client, Skype, Starfish, and Microsoft Lynx or similar VoIP platforms.
• Experience with SIP and H.323 VoIP based architectures
• Strong knowledge of voice and data ISP and circuit technology TDM, SIP, T/E1, Ethernet, FastEthernet, and GigabitEthernet.
• Experience level knowledge of IP networking LAN, WAN, routing, and QOS
• Experience with Windows, Linux, Junos, and IOS
• Experience working in a global work place
• Experience level knowledge with AMR, EMEA, and APAC telecom practices and policies
• Experience with traditional digital PBX and TDM systems
