Role : BA with Outage Management System
Work Location : Irwindale, CA
Duration of assignment (in Months) : 12 months
Relevant Experience: 6-8 Years
Technical/Functional Skills
• Strong understanding of Outage Management System functionality (ex. Fault Location, Isolation and Service Restoration, public outage reporting, work crew scheduling, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of normal grid operations
• Strong understanding of business analysis techniques for tasks such as requirements elicitation, meeting facilitation, root-cause analysis, risk identification, benefit-cost assessment, business case preparation, financial tracking, business process reengineering etc.
• Strong understanding of business relationship management; able to liaise and effectively communicate with individuals from multiple domains, including technical, operational, financial and senior leadership
• Strong understanding of requirements management; able to write high quality requirements (ex. traceable, prioritized, consistent, clear, complete, measurable etc.) covering both functional and non-functional (ex. security, scalability, performance, accuracy, maintainability, visualization etc.) aspects
• Intermediate knowledge of related operational technology systems (ex. EMS, DMS, GIS, CIS, AMI, etc.)
• Intermediate knowledge of project management
• Intermediate knowledge of product management
• Intermediate knowledge of ITIL practices such as release management, change management, continual service improvement etc.
• Basic knowledge of vendor management, risk management, and IT governance
• Basic technical knowledge of application architecture, databases, networks and so on.
Experience Required
• 6+ years with business analysis, technical support, and/or operational usage of complex utility-specific applications
• 2+ years specifically with business analysis on Outage Management Systems
• 1+ years coordinating geographically dispersed teams
Roles & Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include (but not limited to):
• Requirements, reporting and business planning of OMS
• Leading role in developing and planning OMS product lifecycle in coordination with enterprise roadmaps
• Identifying potential project risks and develop/implement strategies to minimize impact
• Assist in establishing project milestones and analyze costs and provide timely and accurate project cost reports
Generic Managerial Skills
• Demonstrated success as a self-starter
• Strong problem-solving skills using a methodical approach
• Ability to create consensus among different stakeholders
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to the project/application stakeholders
• Able to function as delegate project manager
Education
• BA/BS or even Masters in electrical engineering, computer science, business/systems analysis or business administration
• Business analysis certification (ex. IIBA, PMI-PBA etc.) a strong plus
• Lean Six Sigma certification a strong plus
• ITIL certification a plus
• COBIT certification a plus
• Project management certification (i.e. PMP) a plus
