MySQL DBA–

Location: West Valley City, UT

Duriaton:6+ Months

 looking for more Development & Designing, Not into Support DBA guy.

 

Mixture of Developer (60 %) & DBA (40 %)

 

What are the top 5-10 responsibilities for this position? 
- Ensure performance, scalability, security, and availability of MySQL databases 
- Prepare documentation, best practices, and specifications 
- Work as an expert on MySQL implementation and design 
- Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary 
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders 
- Provide guidance and expertise on tuning MySQL implementation 
- Help engineering teams migrate from Oracle to MySQL 

What software tools/skills are needed to perform these daily responsibilities? 
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git / SVN 
- E/R Diagraming tools 
- MySQL Workbench 

What skills/attributes are a must have? 
- Strong proficiency in MySQL database management, minimum 5 years 
- Experience with recent versions of MySQL 
- Understanding of MySQL's underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and RocksDB 
- Experience with replication configuration in MySQL 
- Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL 
- Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements 
- Knowledge of MySQL features, such as its event scheduler 
- Experience on architecting and designing MySQL databases 
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB 
- Knowledge of limitations in MySQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases 

What skills/attributes are nice to have? 
- Experience and understanding of Oracle
