Title: ETL Developer

Location: Bellevue, WA

Duration: 6 Months

Interview: Phone and Skype

 

Required:

·         Data/ETL Engineers to migrate data into their new enterprise platform.

·         The Data Lead for ALG and had been tasked with merging 2 of their other companies into their centralized database.

·         The other company databases are Oracle and ICP/DB2. These will be migrated into a PostgreSQL database hosted in Linux. This transition will need to be complete in about 5 months.

·         All of these DB's are not datawarehouses but are transactional DB's supporting ecommerce systems. A true understanding of data and being able to help design parts of their system will be key. They will be looking to build a # of transformations to facilitate the migration within 5 months.

·         This will be a Sr. Data Engineer with an understanding of multiple databases as there are alot of different DB's involved in this migration. This person will need to be comfortable operating with a good deal of autonomy and not require hand-holding.

·         Strong understanding of Linux environments and the ability to script (Shell/Perl/Bash). This is how the ETL will be performed.

·         Then, after this initial migration is complete in 5 months, they'll be migrating a 3rd company onto the platform, which is all MySQL.

·         Ideally need someone with solid Oracle experience and Linux scripting, and someone who has had experience or at least played around with numerous structured and unstructured data technologies.

·         Someone that has only worked in a datawarehouse environment is not a fit here. Need someone that has worked in a transactional environment and worked with transactional DB's. If they also have DW experience that would be a plus as they will be moving to that after this project but the transactional is key.

·         All Microsoft BI Stack is also not a fit as they don't have time for them to ramp up.
