Job Description:
We are looking for talented & motivated engineers to help build the analytics platform
inventory management solution suite. Our goal is simple – to deliver the right product at the
right place at the right time.
Our work involves the design and development of systems and tools for data collection, data
processing, monitoring, data access platform and much more – all of these at the largest
scales and resources. We are looking for full-stack engineer, who is immensely passionate
about data, experienced with various technologies, comfortable and thrive in an ambiguous
environment, is a fast learner and has a "technologist by nature and high execution"
mentality.
Fundamentally, you will be working with a team of stellar talent, and build out the next generation of intelligent data services that will have a profound impact on how we march towards the vision of Gap's data driven marketplace. Working on data at Gap now, is an exciting opportunity as we need to balance the company's needs to move fast today while continuing to build platforms that will be leveraged for the products of tomorrow. Requirements
Strong engineering background, ideally experienced with large scale
- data/distributed systems, housing several TBs of data
- Thinks moving fast short-term, while building for long term is totally possible
- Deep & Hands on experience building Spark or similar such big data
- pipelines/frameworks/services
- Prior experience building foundational services at scale (e.g.: ML Pipelines,
- Relevance systems, Search services)
- Can quickly learn and be productive at new data technologies
- Can produce quality code fast, preferably Java/Scala on *nix
- Solid foundation in distributed systems concepts
- Familiar with agile methodologies and best practices (TDD, MVP, etc.)
- Attributes
- Strong initiative and a positive attitude
- Ability to work collaboratively with peer engineers, data scientists and product
- managers
- Ability to handle ambiguity, learn quickly and adapt to change
- Professional, organized, efficient and accurate
- Resourceful and creative troubleshooting skills
- Desire to work in a fast paced, growing, deadline driven, startup-up environment
