Position Title: DevOps Engineer

Location: Boston, MA

Duration: 6+ month contract

Pay Rate: $55/hr on C2C

 

Overview:

• Reporting to the DevOps Manager, responsible for the design, build and delivery of on-perm based DevOps frameworks, tooling and solutions to support ongoing daily operation of core customer facing platforms
• Work as a key participant in the design, build and rollout of Cloud based DevOps frameworks and tooling to support the strategic migration of key high visibility customer facing products to Amazon Web Services
• Collaborating with cross project teams of developers, test engineers and product stakeholders within an Agile environment
• Deliver innovative industry standards based solutions in the DevOps space to meeting the changing requirements of stakeholder groups
• Support external teams (development, release engineering, performance) in delivering best practice solutions
• Operate across the entire lifecycle of a platform from infrastructure build through to deployment and operational support, with attend to functional and non-functional requirements, including performance, scalability and security
• Triage and resolve operational issues with live production sites

 

Requirements:

• Very strong infrastructure and web service automation skills are essential
• Experience of agile development
• CHEF
• Networking principles
• Web Application Architectures
• Jboss, Tomcat, Apache, MySQL, Shell Scripting Unix Content Delivery Networks Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• the drive to succeed and work independently and on a team, with the ability to multi task, and deliver quality results

 

Desirable Skills:

• Knowledge of web application development and coding frameworks
• AWS architecture (ELB, EC2, S3, RDS, Cloud formation, Security Groups, cloud watch, SQS, SNS, SES)
• Exposure to the educational software environment and familiarity with industry standards and specifications
