DevOps Build & Release Automation Engineer
Location: Bay Area (Pleasanton)
Duration: 12 months
You will be working for a boutique DevOps transformation, Development Delivery Automation firm that specializes in working with large enterprises that desperately need help in improving their development practices, their speed to market and ability to react to changes in the market faster.
We looking for a DevOps Engineer from development, release/build engineering and operations background to join our Engineering Services team and help us transform organizations by impacting their software tooling and processes. This is a great opportunity for someone from a relevant background to join a progressive organization and help build out a next-generation automation, monitoring, deployment platform.
Extensive experience using Jenkins in a commercial environment is essential for this position.
Significant experience with continuous integration technology (Jenkins, Bamboo), scripting languages (Python, Perl, Ruby, Groovy), and build technologies (Maven, Gradle).
You must be authorized to work in the U.S.
The tools you will be working with everyday: Jenkins, Maven, Git, Nexus, UCD, Perl, Python, Groovy, Grunt, Gulp, Selenium
Day-Day Activities & Responsibilities:
· Define & build out a version control(git) repository strategy & structure, naming conventions, versioning, ordering, privileges and standards.
· Define & build out maven archetypes for application creation and maintenance.
· Document solutions as simple digestible fashion for application teams to own long term.
· Work with the build/deployment teams to enable the CI process for all new application repositories, initialize across all teams and hand-hold any special needs/customizations or troubleshoot when not working.
· Work closely with the DevOps teams to set ongoing standards around versioning, naming conventions, 3rd Party Libraries, Schedulers, Build Job standards, Deployment job standards, notifications/alerts & dashboards that show real time metrics.
· Document & train the build/deployment engineers to automate the setup of the jobs in jenkins as a self-service to developers and also uplift skills around creating a CI/CD ecosystem.
· Design and develop deployment solutions enabling push button deployments to all of the environments (Dev to Prod) via Jenkins and Urban Code Deploy
