1) Required experience with IBM SVC, Netapp, Brocade switches, EMC VMAX/Recoverpoint/VNX. Preferred experience with TPC, HItachi VSP/HUS/AMS, Tuning Manager.
2) Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
3) Strong analytic skills with deep storage expertise across a broad spectrum of storage technologies. Ability to architect/develop solutions to meet business needs.
4) Minimum four years experience in a primary support role managing large SAN/NAS environments.
5) Experience with fiber channel and NAS/CIFS-NFS protocols required. iSCSI protocol experience a plus.
6) Experience with Linux operating systems and scripting experience a plus.
JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL SUMMARY: Provides highly specialized technical expertise to engineer and support a large SAN and NAS infrastructure as part of a storage management team in a rapidly expanding and changing environment. Designs, implements and maintains storage solutions and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Work in a team environment to provide daily support of a large, complex SAN and NAS infrastructure. Components include: IBM SVC, XIV, DS8300, TPC, HDS AMS2500, VSP, HUS, Netapp, Brocade switches and EMC VMAX, Recoverpoint, VNX and XtremIO.
2. Evaluate, test, design and integrate new storage technologies into the environment to meet changing business needs. Provide recommendations for future capacity growth.
3. Recommend storage solutions and configurations for new business applications.
4. Conduct complex technical analyses such as analyzing system problems or reviewing system procedures in order to resolve issues or improve processes.
5. Analyze performance to identify bottlenecks and provide recommendations to resolve.
6. Plan, coordinate and upgrade components of the SAN/NAS, working with vendors as needed.
7. Automate processes and tasks to improve workflow and develop customized reporting.
8. Provide on-call rotating pager support for the corporate SAN and NAS environments.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Deep experience with some subset of the following products is required: Netapp, IBM SVC, XIV, TPC, HDS AMS2500, HUS, VSP, HDS Tuning/Device Manager, Brocade Directors, EMC VMAX, VNX, Recoverpoint, XtremIO.
2. Experience managing and interacting with fiber channel switches and working with fiber channel protocol (i.e. cabling infrastructure, zoning, troubleshooting, etc) is required.
3. Strong analytic skills and strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills are required.
4. Ability to lead projects and to coordinate activities between teams and with clients/application teams to accomplish objectives is required.
5. Scripting experience in a scripting language such as Perl/Shell is required.
6. Must be able to work independently and take initiative, but also accept suggestions and direction from others on the team. Must be able to work in a team environment. Required.
7. Ability to work in fast paced and dynamic environment is required
8. Experience with file based protocols (NFS, CIFS), particularly on Netapp is helpful.
9. Experience with global namespaces, file share management best practices is helpful.
