Title: Data Warehouse Modeler
Duration: 6 – 12+ months

Job Description:
The Data Warehouse Modeler (DWM) is responsible for transforming business information into models (conceptual, logical and physical) and managing the enterprise warehouse data model.
This goes beyond the role of a typical application level "data modeler" in that it requires modeling from an "enterprise perspective" rather than from a single business function perspective.
The DWM is proficient in industry standard techniques for process and data modeling. Within data modeling, the DWM must be proficient in both 3rd normal form relational and dimensional modeling.
This person must be experienced in group facilitation with participants from diverse business functions and work skills.
Responsibilities include
analyzing (reverse-engineering) source applications, modeling, designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining the data warehouse, data marts and the operational data store models; establishing policies and procedures pertaining to the management, security, maintenance, and use of the database management system; and training employees in database management and use.
Job Responsibilities:
3rd normal form/integrated modeling /this project will have quite a lot of that at the beginning.
Perform Business Requirement Analysis:
» Interact with Business Analysts to obtain data and functional requirements
» Interact with business users and identify reporting needs
» Conduct interviews, brain storming discussions with project team to get additional requirements
» Gather accurate data by performing data and functional analysis.
» Analyzing source applications database structures and assist in building SQL extracts
Perform Development of data models:
» Create and document conceptual, logical and physical data models.
» Communicate physical database designs to Data Warehouse Administrators.
Reports:
» Generate reports from data models.
Review:
» Review the data models with business and technical teams.
Creation of database:
» Create SQL DDL code from data model and co-ordinate with DBAs to create database.
» Insure that see data models and databases are in synch.
