Position: Oracle Developer

Location: Durham, NC

Duration: 6+months

 

Primary skills are Oracle, Informatica, Autosys, PERL, PL/SQL ,etc.

 

Qualifications:

 

Skills & Knowledge

Proficiency in PL/SQL, Oracle, Informatica and Unix shell scripting.  Experience with Perl programming and Autosys job scheduler is strongly desired

A working knowledge of programming languages (Java/C++) is a plus

Proficiency in OLTP, data warehouse design & management and reporting

Strong analytical skills, with a proven track record on delivering large technology projects is essential

Strong interpersonal, relationship management, facilitation and communication skills

 

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree required; MBA or MS Preferred

Experience in Fixed Income Trading and large-scale Trading system development essential, with good understanding of unique challenges in the data modeling, data collection and maintenance of OLTP data

Experience in Trading vendor solutions (i.e. Bloomberg AIM, Charles River, etc.) highly desirable

Experience in Agile methodology is a plus

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Work with a cross-functional team of Trading, Application Developers, and Business Analysts in a matrixed organization and deliver the best solution to meet Fixed Income Bond OMS platform features and functionality

Responsible for understanding, articulating, documenting and presenting DB requirements (both business and technical)

Analyze and profile current data; prepare logical and physical data models based on the requirements.  Make decisions on appropriate usage of E-R models and/or dimensional models

Apply best practices to come up with DB designs to meet or exceed business needs.  Including but not limited to physical databases, schemas, table structure, indices, data marts, program structure, batch processing, performance, etc.

Develop database code using PL/SQL, SQL, Informatica ETL tools on Oracle

Manage status reporting and problem escalation to project and database technology stakeholders where appropriate

Identify project risks, create risk management/mitigation/transfer plans and implement plans to contain the project risk
