Data Modeler
Other: Must have good communication and personality
We have strong preference for experience and skill with (not in order):
• Spatial Data Management Technologies and specifically Oracle 11g and 12c Spatial and Graph extensions
• Optimization of processes and structures within the database and data access/transaction management layers of the architecture Examples include:
• Query optimization
• Embedded Java and/or optimized stored procedures
• Partitioning
• Index optimization
• Application of optimized views
• Long Transaction Management, Oracle Workspace Manager preferred
• Bi-Temporal Data Management, Oracle Workspace Manager preferred
• Extending Oracle DBMS functions such as 11g and 12c Spatial
• Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) implementation at the access level
• Java EE and Java frameworks in the data access/Object Relational Mapping area, e.g. JPA
• ORM technologies, e.g., Hibernate, Hibernate Spatial
• •Caching technologies, e.g., Oracle Coherence
• Database deployment and hardware specifications for sizing and performance
• Data Modeling tools, e.g., ERWIN, PowerDesigner
• System Modeling tools, e.g., Enterprise Architect, PowerDesigner, Rational modeling suite
Consistently in a hands on technical leadership position and makes technical decisions affecting the outcome of projects. Effectively provided technical leadership on a significant number of projects of various types (including complex projects). Expert that can teach, coach, mentor others in Database/DBMS Architecture. May be utilized to increase the capability of the discipline across the organization. 9-13 years hands on experience as an architect. Typical education: BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical field. Advanced degree is expected.
Quickly learns the aviation domain (reducing "discovery time") and rapidly synthesizes requirements and constraints that lead to effective information architecture. Focused on a deep understanding of aviation domain and technical perspectives, key goals and objectives of the organization/customer/user, industry specifications and constraints, and the synthesis of those inputs to information architecture. Makes structured, multivariable decisions. Possesses high level of personal organization. Communicates effectively with Software Engineering and actively engages in Software Engineering activities. Understands the design and implementation needs of the Software Engineering disciplines (specifically in an object oriented system context). Composed during periods of uncertainty, creating and structuring information from what is known—leading to more certainty vs. becoming blocked by uncertainty or vague direction.
This person will serve as the Database Engineer for development of a large, geospatially enabled data management system. Specifically, this person will specify and implement approaches to ensure efficient access, editing, and transaction management for aviation geospatially enabled data and working in the database and access layer of the system. This involves tuning the Physical Data Model and DBMS for optimal performance with Oracle 12c Spatial and Graph, Oracle Workspace Manager, and custom developed data access frameworks and services in Java.
In performance of their database engineering duties this person will be the focal point between the System Modeling Group, the development teams, and the database infrastructure team. Hands on system specification, development, and deployment experience is required.
