Role: GUI DESIGNER

Location: Washington, DC GC/EAD/CITIZEN Only

Duration: 6+ Months

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Tasks

·         Work directly with the requirements analyst, architects and technical lead on prototypes.

·         Collaborate with business and IT decision makers to discuss user interface requirements and brainstorm UI ideas.

·         Design html prototypes, visual interfaces and interaction of web-based applications.

·         Implement user interface design by working with development team

·         Conduct usability testing to identify and fix UI problems, and gather real-world intelligence from their target market.

·         Use visual aids, including wireframes, storyboards and UI flow charts, to plan and present user interface designs.

·         Use strong knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to develop search engine-friendly user interfaces.

·         Keep current with the latest trends and best practices of UI/UX design and HCI (human-computer interaction).

·         Accountable for meeting project milestones

 

Required Skills:

·         Must have a minimum of 5 years of web application GUI designing

·         Strong experience in front-end web development languages, i.e., HTMLHTML, short for Hypertext Markup Language, is the predominant language used in the construction of web pages. , CSSCSS, short for Cascading Style Sheets, is a style sheet language used to control the look and format of web pages and JavaScript. JavaScript is a scripting programming language commonly used to add interactive features to web pages, e.g., animated images or pop-up windows. .

·         Must have good experience in modern web and application programming skills, such as Java, AJAX and Ruby.

·         Must have experience in Adobe Creative Suite programs, e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash & Flex to mockup and design UI elements.

·         Understanding of responsive web design to create user interfaces that automatically conform to multiple screen sizes and devices.

·         Should have working knowledge of IBM DB2 and database concepts.

·         Understanding of mobile GUI applications designing.

·         Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (in English)

 

Software & Tools:

 

HTML, CSS, JQuery, AJAX, JavaScript and Java, JSP, Ruby, Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Flash & Flex, and IBM DB2
