Job Description:
Database Administrator Contractor
Responsibilities Include:
General
• Excellent communication/customer service skills
• Build and modify existing database structures and code
• Analyze, monitor and tune database for optimal efficiency
• Design or re-design schema layouts to improve performance
• Develop database utilities and automated reporting
• Demonstrated ability to produce high quality work deliverables with attention to detail
• Evaluate and recommend new database technologies
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team structure.
Enthusiastic, hard-working and self-motivated
• Restore and recover corrupted databases
• Create and maintain documentation and procedures
Oracle
• Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development
• Review designs, offer alternatives and implement changes to schemas
• Full knowledge of SQL, triggers and PL/SQL
• Review code, run explain plans, tune queries
• Reverse engineering of databases
• Design, build and document database architecture
• Establish and calculate optimum values for database parameters
• Implement security (create users, roles, auditing, Oracle Label Security)
• Analyze tables, add indexes, and create partitions
• Provide support for testing effort, including developing scripts to load and archive test data
Job Requirements
Required Experience and Skills:
• 3+yrs Oracle experience including hands-on experience with Oracle 11g
• 3+yrs experience with logical/physical data design (ex: ERWIN, PowerDesigner, ER/Studio)
• 3+yrs experience with SQL, T-SQL, triggers and PL/SQL, including programming and ways to
optimize SQL
• Experience in installing, patching and upgrading Oracle 11g database environments
• Proven ability to troubleshoot slow or long-running queries
• Proficient in using Oracle Enterprise Manager and SQL Server Management Studio
• Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment
• Experience working with databases Oracle on Windows Operating System
• Experience with data archiving, RMAN and SQL Server backups
• Solid grasp of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Configuration and Release Management
& Integration
• Practice with Code Control Software ? ex: Perforce, Tortoise, Subversion, etc.
Preferred Skills:
• Familiarity with solid state storage systems
• Programming or Shell Language (e.g., Java, C++, C#, VB, Perl, ksh, tcsh)
• Web Services/SOA technologies
• Hands-on practice in a VM environment including using VMWare Player, vSphere, etc.
• Competency with Integration Software and methods ? RedGate, Replication, VM snapshot.
