BACKGROUND:
AIG's Corporate FP&A MIS Strategy team is executing on a comprehensive 3-Year FP&A Transformation Program to enhance FP&A management reporting and analytical capabilities for Senior Management across all Business Units and Global Functions. Areas of focus include: standardizing and aligning key business processes, enhancing company-wide data standard and governance, streamlining information flows with Business Units and Global Functions, and investment in information infrastructure to support a "best-in-class" operating model.
The hiring is to support current immediate priorities of creating robust company-wide reporting and analytical processes and MIS to support expense and headcount control. The position will be re-deployed within AIG FP&A to focus on other key initiatives upon completion of the immediate objectives (6-12 months).
JOB TITLE: Senior Business Analyst / Business Analyst (depending on experience), FP&A MIS Strategy Team
The Corporate FP&A MIS Strategy team is seeking a Senior Business Analysts and Business Analysts to become an integral part of a cohesive team working on MIS-related transformation initiatives within Global FP&A and across multiple AIG Business Units and Global Functions. A hands-on, team-oriented individual with ability to utilize experience, analytical abilities, and technical expertise to facilitate FP&A MIS needs is required.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated 6-8+ years (for SBA) or 4-6+ (for BA) of progressive advancement utilizing business knowledge, analytical skills, and technical knowledge to build company-wide MIS and reporting.
Candidates should have demonstrated capabilities in:
1. Financial and Management Reporting
2. Content Management, including dimension and hierarchy maintenance, metadata mapping
3. Experience working with relational and multidimensional (OLAP) databases
4. Ability to analyze and manipulate large data sets
5. Communication and time management skills
6. Ability to work under tight deadlines
Technical Skills:
1. Advanced MS Excel (required), VBA a big plus
2. Basic knowledge of SQL (required), ability to write queries with joins and sub-queries a plus
3. Experience with Essbase, SAP BW, BPC or Business Objects a plus
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Building and maintaining global FP&A dimension hierarchies
Working with multiple FP&A teams across the company to acquire metadata sets from General Ledgers and other reporting systems, and map data elements to the appropriate dimensions
Manipulating hierarchies and mapping sets using Excel, uploading into a Reference Data Management (RDM) tool, running exception reports, and extracting reference data for publishing
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree; Master Degree a plus; 4-8+ years of professional experience in the finance or insurance industry; AIG internal experience a plus; Financial and Management Reporting; Content Management; Solid understanding of Database concepts; Advanced MS Excel; VBA a plus; Basic SQL; Experience with Essbase, SAP BW, BPC or Business Objects a plus; Technical and Automation Skills; Data Analysis Skills; Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize work within tight deadlines; Ability to self-start, work independently and be adaptable in a dynamic environment.
