Below are the Position Details:
Position : SQL DBA
Location: Omaha, NE
Duration: 6 month contract to a year
Visa : GC or USC
SQL DBA- Prefers 4+ years of experience. His team has built out new Supply Chain Management Software that will be able to sit on multiple platforms Linux, Microsoft, I-Series, etc……….He had a DBA that participated in this and was a contractor for 3 years. NCR just implemented a 1 year max for consulting and this guy backed out of converting at last minute. He tweaked the skills desired due to the fact DB's are in effect and consumers using it:
• Creation of data tables
• Modeling
• Fine tuning of database
• SQL querying
• Stored Procedures (some but not much)
• Monitoring of DB's
• Backups and restoration
• Fixed changes
NCR has ability to convert someone to FTE status after 3 months if have ability to. Often people will stay on contract up until the year mark before they actually push it through. Candidates for this position will need to want to eventually be FTE to be considered.
Position Summary & Key Areas of Responsibility
- Define data, information and underlying technology (taxonomy/DB) roadmap
- Develop enterprise-level conceptual, logical and physical data models working for NCR applications.
- Establish data / database architecture guiding principles and design goals; Socialize for acceptance
- Facilitate and review enterprise wide data dictionaries and taxonomies; again, working closely with the other Application Groups and other domain experts.
- Establish information models, data flows and data life-cycles throughout the enterprise architecture
- Analyze and specify standards based data exchange with 3rd parties
- Identify data integration opportunities
- Collaborate with Infrastructure Architects on taxonomy/database infrastructure specifications
- Evaluate, recommend and select taxonomy/database tools & utilities
- Establish formal policies and procedures for data model review and approval
- Identify and implement best practices, tools and standards (ER modeling, normalization, data security, etc.)
- Facilitate, monitor and resolve database performance, scale and availability activities
Basic Qualifications
• Four year Bachelor's Degree
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Information Management / IT Industry.
• Minimum of 5-6 years of experience as a Data Architect; preferably in the Supply Chain domain.
• Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of large scale and complex custom application development systems (e.g., transactional and data warehouse)
• Demonstrated experience hands-on experience modeling, designing, and developing SQL Server databases
• Troubleshooting and resolving any Database performance issues.
• Demonstrated experience in monitoring and fine tuning the database indexes and performance.
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience in evaluating, recommending and selecting taxonomy/database tools & utilities
• Demonstrated experience in eestablishing formal policies and procedures for data model review and approval
• Demonstrated experience identifying and implementing best practices, tools and standards (ER modeling, normalization, data security, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience in facilitating, monitoring and resolving database performance, scale and availability activities
• Team player and willing to take responsibility.
