Estimated Duration:                6 months+

 

 

How will this person interact with other members in the organization?

 

Provide SME level test analysis, test script development, execute, analyze test results and report results.

 

Position Description:

 

The tester supports quality assurance programs and processes in alignment with QA strategy.  

The tester is responsible for providing feedback on artifacts developed during requirements and analysis phase within client projects; authoring test cases; and performing test execution for both project and support related activities. The testers will be performing manual testing and have an opportunity to participate in automated test development/execution.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

1.       Work within an Agile methodology

2.       Validate data from the data sources through each step of the extract and transformation process including final load in the data warehouse

3.       Develop and review test plans and test scripts

4.       Ensure accurate data and reporting, in terms of content and infrastructure by researching and identifying source of errors

5.       Understand the data model and ETL flow. 

6.       Write SQL scripts to extract data from various databases and systems and compare against data warehouse

7.       Perform root cause and trend analysis to identify recurring patterns of errors

8.       Ensure data standards/integrity are maintained in order to deliver the highest quality products

9.       Participate in Story and Acceptance Criteria review session

10.   Manage test coverage based on risk analysis

11.   Document defects and evaluate priority of defect based on overall application functionality

12.   Coordinate Test case/script reviews with stakeholders, as appropriate

13.   Perform various types of testing including white box, integration, back-end DB validation, system testing, and end-to-end, as needed

14.   Adhere to requirement review, defect writing & test script writing guidelines

15.   Coordinate testing efforts between 3^rd party testing team.

16.   Keep Lead Tester informed of current state of quality and test progress

17.   Ensure completion of all deliverables within schedule, budget, and quality constraints

18.   Ensure that projects follow prescribed software development life cycle standards

19.   Develop and maintain good relationships with project team

20.   Identify obstacles and roadblocks; offer suggestions to work around obstacle

21.   Help drive and improve QA process within the team to which you are assigned

 

 

Position/Project Specific Requirements:

 

·  5+ years of relevant experience in software quality assurance

·  2+ years testing data/data transformation/data movement (ETL)

·  3+ years SQL utilizing complex queries

·  Solid understanding of data architecture and ETL workflows

·  1+ years of Agile methodology experience

·  Seasoned experience with using Quality Center/ALM for test case management

·  Prior experience using Jira for defect tracking

 

 

Position/Project Specific Preferences/Desires:

 

·  Prefer understanding/experience with Netezza, Aginity amp, Unica, IBM Campaign a plus

·  Prefer ETL experience to be on most recent project

·  Prefer Agile methodology being utilized in the current/most recent project

·  Prefer experience in the SAFe Agile approach

·  Prefer technical savviness or exposure to test automation

·  Prefer having a Bachelors Degree in a related field of study
