**Best candidate would come from a development background. We need a candidate that is well rounded and can do be a jack of all trades within Data Modeling.

Requirements:
• BS in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years experience in data design, data architecture and data modeling (both transactional and analytic)
• 3+ years experience in Relational and Dimensional data design and modeling in a large multi-platform data environment
• 3+ years experience writing and optimizing complex SQL code
• Experience with data modeling tools
• Experience with Oracle/SQL Server/DB2 in support of the transactional systems modeling is preferred
• Experience with Netezza or other data warehouse appliance platform is preferred
• Experience with Hadoop, Cassandra or other noSQL database platform is preferred
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills, and have experience interfacing directly with program development, user and management personnel
Will first be supporting current team then lots of data analysis, impact analysis, gap analysis, data profiling. Figure out scenario based situations and physical data modeling - coming up with partitions, indexing schemes, specifying table spaces.
Most data modelers work though DBAs for DDL but this person should know how to actually data design for physical database, not just understand the conceptual. Modeler will get naming, data types, keys and relationships.
Job Description:
The Data Modeler advises the enterprise application teams on data modeling, relational and dimensional database design and modeling, master data management, efficient SQL development, and best practices for the IT data development staff as it relates to data management. The position assists business partners as well as IT staff in profiling and understanding their data. The position helps the IT development staff develop comprehensive and robust data models which will scale and support the enterprise's future growth. The position must communicate clearly and effectively, collaborating with IT and business teams in order to deliver timely and effective solutions. The Data Architect is expected to be creative and provide lateral thinking, all the while being proactive in finding solutions to the enterprises data needs.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains data models (logical and physical) for operational and analytical systems in the Enterprise from scratch.
- Maintains the ERWIN model repository and ensures the models are current
- Creates and executes DDL in development environments for any new and/or revised database objects
- Works closely and communicates effectively with the IT development staff on providing the best data design solutions for their needs
- Must possess the ability to derive data requirements from functional requirements, source data and meetings and the ability to generate data models from scratch to meet requirements and follow best practices
- Works to promote the enterprise's data governance standards
- Reviews and Approves requests pertaining to database objects in a timely manner.
