Published Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: Data Archival/ SQL Server Administrator will work on multiple small to large scale Data Archival, Integration and Reporting related technology initiatives in a dynamic fast-pace matrix environment. The individual will play a critical role in implementation and supporting of IBM Optim Data Archival Solution and MS-SQL Server based data and reporting solutions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: at minimum, the candidate must be able to perform the following:
· Installation, configuration and maintenance of the SQL based data tools and environments.
· Design, develop and support SQL based data and reporting solutions including data analysis, modeling, cleansing, formatting, extracting, loading, and integrating multiple large datasets.
· Automates and refines data import and export processes by creating scripting tools.
· Works closely with data cleansing and reporting teams to help streamline the processes.
· Works independently within guidelines, provides analytical support to a specific group of customers on business applications, data/reports and technology related activities.
· Provides guidance, assistance, and follow-up on complex problems and ensures resolution.
· Works with application leads/developers to support applications and customer data requests.
· Analyzes current business processes and systems to provide process improvement ideas.
· Gathers requirements and develops detailed documentation related to systems / data requirements, test cases and conceptual solutions.
· Performs data testing and data validation.
Qualifications/Work Experience Requirements:
· Strong technology background with a solid understanding of client/server/web technologies including hands-on installation and configuration of the SQL server databases.
· Must have performed data migration from Oracle to SQL Server environments.
· Must have performed system configuration to heterogeneous data sources using ODBC/JDBC.
· Expert level knowledge of Data, Data Flows, Databases (RDBMS), SQL and SQL based reporting tools, creating and optimizing queries, indexing, and building tables.
· 5+ year of hands-on installation, configuration and administration experience with MS-SQL server databases. Proficient with SQL and other query languages.
· 5+ years of experience working with reporting/visualization tools like Cognos, Business Objects/Crystal Reports and QlikView.
· Solid understanding and working knowledge of data cubes, data universe and data objects.
· Solid understanding and working knowledge of developing data models for reporting layer.
· Solid understanding of Microsoft Windows Operating systems and Intel based hardware.
· Strong background with data and data types analysis and issue resolution.
· 3+ years of experience in supporting SQL Server based Data Warehouse environments.
· 3+ year of experience with SSIS, SSAS and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports.
· 3+ years of experience creating and optimizing SQL queries.
· 3+ years of data analysis experience creating reports, organizing data, or transferring data
· 3 years of professional experience working in Pharmaceutical environment.
· Must be able to work independently with energy, drive and commitment to deliver a quality.
· Familiarity with data archival and data retirement tools like Optim 11.3 and processes is a plus.
· 4-years college degree in Computer Science/IS or equivalent experience.
· Quick learner, strong attention to detail and desire to learn new concepts and technologies.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills – must be able to effectively deal with clients.
· A team player with a can-do attitude who can excel in a face-paced dynamic environment.
