System Engineer (Chef, Puppet)

Location: Cincinnati, OH or Atlanta, GA

Exp Level: 3 years

Duration: 6 Months

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

1. Create chef cooks

2. Provide Chef admin support

3. Knowledge in Chef & Jenkins integration

4. Ability to engage with clients Individually

5. Experience with virtualization

6. Experience with system administration (primary: Linux, secondary: Windows)

7. Experience with infrastructure services and protocols like DNS, DHCP, SSH, X Windows, HTTPS, NTP, etc.

8. Experience with shell scripting and at least one of the following: Ruby or Python or Powershell

9. Ability and willingness to pick up more scripting languages as needed (e.g. Perl, javascript, PHP)

10. Good knowledge of configuration management tools like Puppet and Chef with hands on experience with Chef and DVCS like git or mercurial.

11. Good knowledge of cloud computing and how it differs from traditional style along with good understanding of private, public and hybrid clouds

12. Good knowledge of REST. Experience with automation of tasks involving REST APIs.
