Description Ø The Software Engineer will be working with the Insurance Business Intelligence QA team, primarily responsible for assuring continuous information quality in a data warehouse / BI environment. Ø This position is also expected to have the technical skills and knowledge to be able to perform parallel ETL development when necessary, and design processes for trending, profiling and analyzing massive datasets in a big data environment.
Critical Skills and Knowledge Ø 2+ years experience working with SQL Server databases Ø 2+ years experience with analyzing / testing large datasets, ensuring referential and historical integrity of data warehouse data Ø 2+ years experience working in a data warehouse / BI environment Ø 1+ experience with SQL Server SSIS Ø Experience with Python or Perl scripting Ø Solid understanding of QA methodologies and practices Ø Exposure to data profiling and data quality processes Ø Familiarity with SQL Server SSAS and MDX Ø Mix of development and QA experience in a data warehouse / BI environment Ø Proficiency with Microsoft Excel pivot tables
Desired Skills & Knowledge ( not required ) Ø Knowledge of basic statistics and statistical process control methods Ø Knowledge of predictive modeling techniques (e.g. discriminant analysis, logistic regression, decision trees) Ø Knowledge of Six Sigma or Total Quality Management Ø Experience working with Agile teams Ø Familiarity with Oracle databases
Qualifications Ø Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering or equivalent experience. Ø 3+ years in full lifecycle development process including design, development, testing and implementation of complex data warehouse systems Ø Able to quickly learn new tools, methodologies, programming languages and software packages as needed for the task at hand. Ø Able to manage and prioritize multiple simultaneous projects under a deadline. Ø Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Able to communicate information to various parties, including groups outside of the technology organization Ø Adaptive to changing business conditions and responsive to evolving business requirements Ø Fast learner and team player with excellent communications skills
