We are seeking a Sr. Java Developer for our direct end client in Portland, OR. Please send resume with rate, location and contact details.

Sr. Java Developer
Location: Portland, OR
Responsibilities:
As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing top of the line products in Java, Ruby, and other languages/technologies as needed. You should be an expert in web technologies, server performance tuning, and designing flexible performant data structures.
You additionally work shoulder to shoulder with business owners, to validate requirements, costs, and benefits of projects ensuring consistency in prioritization across business units.
You will also be involved in various initiatives to improve the overall user experience of our users on desktop clients and mobile devices, supporting thousands of users.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with technical, functional teams in design and development of Services.
- Create well-designed, reusable objects in a modern development environment and test plans.
- Communicate and enforce best practice coding standards to maintain the excellent code quality.
- Apply best practices and consistently develop high-quality services on schedule.
- Contribute to project deliverable templates and standards (including coding standards, etc.).
- Share knowledge with others by contributing to our growing knowledge base
QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED)
- Proven track record in a variety of projects, environments and customers
- Excellent debugging skills and the ability to optimize code for performance tuning
- Experiences in implementing hibernate or similar ORM tools in a large scale database management system.
- Experience developing in all phases of the full SDLC of a project is required.
- Experience or deep understanding of TDD and CI practices.
- Experience or deep understanding on mocking, IOC, and AOP frameworks.
- Understanding of SOA, ESB, and enterprise architecture patterns.
- Experience in integration technologies, batch based, and event driven programming.
- Experience or deep understanding of SOAP, REST, JMS, JSON, XSD, WSDL, Web services, EAI, MOM, and rule engines.
- Demonstrated ability to pragmatically work with customers and business analysts.
- Demonstrated ability to apply design concepts - layered architectures, components, interfaces, messaging and patterns Ability to design and develop in a multi team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a heterogeneous platform with various tools and technologies.
- Exposure working across a global organization.
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communications skills demonstrated through successfully leading large and complex change initiatives
- Able to champion Lean/Agile methodologies and values
- Clarity and brevity in design: both written and UML
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical customers

PREFERRED SKILLS
- Previous Supply Chain or Logistics industry experience strongly preferred
- Experience using the following technologies is a plus: Ruby, NoSQL, Distributed Caches
- Experience working with Cloud API and vendors
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in the related field.
- 7 years' experience developing, deploying and supporting complex computing applications in a large scale environment.
- 2-3 years of hands on experience in the Java Environment creating high quality, reusable services.
- 2 years of hands on experience with Java, JavaScript, XML JSON
Manager's Notes/Feedback:
- Contract position; 3 months, with strong possibility of extension for right candidate
- This is a Sr to Expert level position (5-7+ yrs experience at a minimum)
- This is a mostly backend focused position; expected that resource is proficient in backend development
- Spring, REST, JSON experience required
- Tibco exp is a huge plus, but not required
