Position               : Senior Data Architect / Data Modeler

Location               : Charlotte, NC (onsite Interview)

Duration              : 4+ Months

 

Position Summary

 

This individual will provide guidance, leadership and solid execution of data architecture strategies for the XDW Project 270 Project. This will involve the Staging and Core Data Layers and make sound data architecture recommendations to Work-Streams on the project. This individual will be responsible for the design of logical data models, physical data structures and metadata definitions for Staging Core.

 

Essential Job Functions:

• Designs, develops, manages and/or updates data models (both logical and physical) of the Staging and Core Data Layers.
• Evolves data models to meet new and changing business requirements.
• Coordinates collection of business requirements for data needs.
• Captures and maintains metadata and data dictionaries for both Staging and Core.
• Maintains central metadata repository for data models.
• Maps logical data models to physical data models and the Data Definition Language.
• Communicates database designs to business and technical audiences, which may include business users, program sponsors, database administrators, ETL developers and BI developers.
• Works with DBAs to migrate schema changes to QA and production environments.
• Designs schemas for optimal query performance on the Teradata platform.

 

Job Requirements:

• Possesses full life cycle experience in data warehousing, both Waterfall and Agile Methodologies.
• Understands the fundamental concepts and architectural principles of data warehousing.
• Familiar with data warehouse design best practices such as normalized modeling practices, dimensional modeling and star schemas.
• Stays current in new data warehousing technologies and seeks opportunities to develop knowledge.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience as a data architect in large-scale, complex BI environments, with numerous data sources, BI applications, and thousands of users.
• 6+ years of experience with ERwin Data Modeler or similar tools.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with large-scale data warehousing MPP platforms (Teradata a must).
• Working knowledge of SQL.
• Experience with ELT (Extract-Load-Transform) data integration methodology.
• Familiarity with ETL tools for large data volumes such as Informatica.
• Familiarity with BI tools such as MicroStrategy and/or Tableau.
