Cognos Developer

Location: Chicago, IL

Duration: 6+months

Responsibilities 
• Develop and support complex Cognos 10 reports and cubes. 
• Work closely with application users to understand informational needs and business challenges, document those requirements, and translate into Business Intelligence solutions 
• Dash Board Development 
• Report Development 
• Framework Manager metadata development 
• Cognos 10 Administration and tuning in multi-tiered environment 

Qualifications 
• The candidate should have strong knowledge of database concepts and SQL 
• 4+ years of experience working with Cognos reporting environment (Report Studio/Analysis Studio/Framework Manager/Transformer/Dynamic) 
• 5-10 years of experience administering and configuring a Cognos reporting environment 
• Performance tuning of reports and cubes 
• Must be capable of handling everything from simple Cognos Framework and/or report development projects through complex upgrades/migrations and installations 
• Ability to develop/work in a variety of Cognos Studios (Report Studio, Event Studio, Query Studio, etc.) 
• Experienced in Framework Manager modeling and development. 
• Experience with Dynamic Query Mode (DQM) and Compatible Query Mode (CQM) 
• Experienced with building transformer and dynamic cubes. 
• Experienced with OLAP modelling and automating cube builds. 
• Experienced with Cognos security implementation. 
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts.

Work Conditions: 
• We work in a team environment; there is an expectation that this role portrait represents the core responsibilities of the role but other responsibilities may surface based on what needs to be done. 
• Colleagues in this role are expected to have an overall understanding of the project plan and participate outside of their core responsibilities when needed. 
• Fluctuating work schedule can be expected during nights and weekends depending on system availability and deliverable dates. 
• Frequent computer use at workstation up to 2 hours at a time or for extended periods of time.
• Participation in training sessions, presentations, and meetings
