Needed POS systems experience.

 

A bit on the role - Provide technical expertise in developing and supporting point-of-sale (POS) applications. Inform and advise customers on information system technologies, functionality, costs, benefits, and implementation requirements. 

Anticipate problems and proactively manage them to resolution.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide technical expertise for critical point-of-sale (POS) applications.
• Participate in the development of functional requirements and design specifications.
• Help refine conceptual systems design requirements and produce a detailed technical design. Prepare and deliver supporting technical documentation.
• Provide programming and technical expertise to implement business solutions according to the technical design. 
• Ensure that all code / technical configurations and other work products are thoroughly unit-tested prior to delivery. 
• Participate in system / integration testing as appropriate.  Perform code reviews and other QA steps as requested.
• Ensure accurate project status is always known and communicated.
• Effectively communicate with team members and management throughout the project lifecycle. 
• Ensure issues are analyzed, discussed and resolved in a timely manner. 
• Assist customers in the preparation of user documentation and training materials.
• Assist project team with determining the appropriate tools, technologies, and platforms for new implementations.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• 5+ years Java programming experience
• 3+ years development using Microsoft SQL
• Strong SQL query authoring/analysis skills
• Demonstrated competency in accurately identifying the scope of work and preparing thorough, accurate, and detailed schedule estimates

• Demonstrated competency in designing, programming, and unit testing complex n-Tier applications
• Demonstrated competency in producing clear and thorough technical documentation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms
