Data Modeler required in PA

POSITION

Data Modeler

6 months

West Chester, PA

 

Must have Retail experience.

 

Position Summary:  

The successful candidate will create or modify data models. 

 

Required Skills and Experience:

•             5 – 7 years in data modeling experience - at the logical and physical level, with a strong focus on OLTP.  Dimensional modeling experience is a plus.

•             Understanding of normalization of entities and tables; ensure use of proper constraints, naming standards, data types & lengths.

•             Transform logical data model to physical data model.

•             Generate DDL from physical data model for database implementation.

•             Document data mapping - source to target.

•             Work closely with business analyst(s) and IT resources to decipher business requirements and translate them to a logical data model. 

•             Good communication skills - able to explain and walk through design concepts to various resources (business, application development, management)

•             Retail experience 

 

Required Technologies: OLTP RDBMS, Data modeling tools (Erwin 9.5 and Model Mart), Proficient with writing SQL, SQL Tools (AQT, SQL Navigator) 

 

Optional Technologies: OLAP (Teradata, Netezza), Data warehouse schemas (Star, Snowflake), dimensional data modeling

 

 Deliverables and other requirements:

•             Deliver analysis, design, build, and refactoring of conceptual, logical and physical data models as requested by Data architect and/or project team according to project plan

•             Communicate with project team members to deliver data models to meet data requirements as requested by  Data architect and/or project team

•             Create all documentation and deliverables in accordance with guidelines and standards

•             Review all relevant documentation to ensure compliance with  standards

•             Attend team meetings as requested 

•             On site  - Mon-Fri

•             Provide weekly status report of progress and hours worked

•             Record time in time reporting system (EPM)
