Hiring for Full stack Java Developer in Midtown 6+ Months Contract.need local only

Position               :             Full stack Java Developer

Duration              :               6+ Month contract

Location               :             Midtown (Park Avenue), NY

Interview – Phone then Face to Face

 

(full stack OO engineer). Ideally Angular.JS/Java (don't necessarily need deep database skills). Will consider strong OO Javascript/Java person w/out Angular.JS.     

 

**Last few years, revamp Web Product (Market Data/Pricing), modernize it, was built a long time ago. Recently introduced new technology (Angular.JS/HTML5, Bootstrap).

 

Old legacy app that was full page refresh and know will be Single Page Web App. Focusing on Data and visualization (Lots of Trading data). Because so much DATA performance is the key to the success of application and employ various strategies (pre-caching, summarization, anticipate what the users).

 

Small product company focused. Understand long roadmaps. Engineering mindset. Customized. Understand what goes on under a library. For ex. Highcharts, how does it load data, if too much data how does it fetch data. Is it only fetching part of the data or look at full chart data. Default view for 30 days or pull up full 5 years to improve.

Possibly looking into new libraries like D3.JS but nothing yet. They use HighCharts right now but don't need it.

Strong OO Engineering skills. Sound technically, attention to detail, very important, GUI is key as well.

Still Oracle DB so need the basics of DB. Some aggregation/summarization stored. DON'T need too deep on the Database.

Front End person (heavy Javascript OO) with the Back End and make it componentize and structure. Will work UX Designer (Graphic Artist).

6 Developers on this team. Not siloed.

Group name is the Market Data Group. 

Market Data/Visualization product to show pricing/market data for Bonds (F.I.). What is going on in Market, help investors (institutional). 

Back End is Java is 1.8 right now.  

Large scale F.I. Portal Project for major client in the Market Data space focused on Pricing Estimates. This portal used by Internal users of this Market Data firm such as FI Traders and others throughout the organization.

We need someone who has worked on large scale full blown applications that were delivered over the Web. Looking for deep Java background and someone who understands Browser issues on the client side (Angular.JS/HTM5/Bootstrap) framework with strong Java skills (collections, threading, etc.) They even get involved with real time messaging functionality besides just Request for Response architecture.

Will be asked to draw on White Board an application displaying the Architecture all the way thru to the Data Model. Must be able to converse back and forth thru this exercise on the White Board their decisions and why.  In second phase of project will be heavily involved in Scaleability/Performance issues as well.

Position Requirements

 

Required Technical Skills:

•          2+ years of enterprise software development experience

•          Strong in Web technologies/Javascript/Ajax/HTML5

•          Excellent understanding of object-oriented design patterns

•          Excellent core Java skills

 

Preferred Technical Skills:

•          Enterprise RDBMS (Oracle and/or Sybase)

•          Experience in multi-threaded programming

 

Other Requirements:

•          Strong verbal and written communication skills

•          Strong problem resolving skills

•          Ability to deal with changing priorities

•          The profile of a team player who forms strong relationships with colleagues and has good interpersonal skills

 

Preferred Attributes:

•          Financial services experience and solid understanding of securities
