Responsibilities:
1. Provides technical oversight and leadership for the development, design, and systems integration for both commercial off the shelf (COTS) software and custom developed application projects.
2. Collaborate with stakeholders and Business Analysts to analyze business requirements, generate high-level system requirements, write/configure application code.
3. Partnering with solution architects, recommends development options, including design, build/buy, and vendor purchase.
4. Provides development and production support solutions for both commercial off the shelf (COTS) software and custom developed application projects.
5. Creates and executes development plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
6. Capable of understanding and contributing to the technical solution from design through to code level.
7. Working closely with Development Project Managers and Business Analysts to produce accurate delivery estimates and manage the transition from analysis through to design and delivery.
8. Owns the development lifecycle and is responsible for managing technical risks throughout the project.
9. Reviews and approves documentation and diagrams created by IT team members, (e.g., system specifications). Writes documentation, including technical standards and processes.
10. Will participate in design, code, and test Inspections throughout product life cycle to contribute technical expertise and to identify issues. Presents technical status and issues at milestone reviews.
11. Maintains current knowledge of IT development methodology, architecture design, and technical standards. Mentors IT staff with less experience and identifies training needs
12. Manages technical resources within budget and project.
13. Manages client interaction and expectations regarding development efforts.
14. Troubleshoot production support issues post release deployment and come up with solutions. Ability to solve complex production issues.
Communication:
1. Consistently delivers high-quality services to our clients. Facilitates team and client meetings effectively.
2. Holds regular status meetings with development team.
3. Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
4. Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
5. Facilitates effective team interaction
6. Actively plans and collaborates with BA and QA teams
Technical skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related field
2. 8+ years of relevant software development experience (with at least 2 years of technical lead level responsibilities)
3. Working knowledge of agile development methodology
4. Advanced knowledge of a wide range of technologies within technical specialty - from state of the art to legacy systems, COTS as well as open source implementations
5. Understands legacy Mainframe/Cobol development environment and approaches
6. Experience with an Object Oriented language, Java or Ruby on Rails is a plus
7. Experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript Frameworks
8. Experience in the development of software using SQL Server technologies
9. An understanding and exposure to Team Foundation Server and ALM.
10. Possesses significant knowledge of client/server and internet systems architectures.
11. Understands browser / client specific compatibility issues.
12. Strong written and oral communication skills, strongly desired
