Role: Mainframe Developer
Location: Central Illinois.
Duration:6+ Contract
Job Description:
Design, code, test, and debug programs of varying levels of complexity. Analyze user requests and software requirements for feasibility of design and potential impact. Assist more experienced system development/support personnel in developing solutions to customer related requests and/or system problems. Application problem identification and resolution, including off-shift and weekend support functions. Candidate will be on call 4-5 times a year as the facility is on call 7 days a week from 8:00am to 8:00pm.
Typical Day
Providing support to facilities to help them resolve issues. Working on small change requests and a few larger ones as well.
Technical Skills
Up-to-date knowledge of related infrastructure components and/or operating environment. Strong ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue. Strong knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery. Proficiency in COBOL, SQL, DB2, CICS, TSO, and JCL.
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent training required. 2 or more years' experience required.
Soft Skills
Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills. Basic ability to work independently and manage one''s time as well as being a collaborative team member.
