Title: Database Engineer
Location: Sparks, MD
Duration: 6 months
Rate: $45/hr on C2C
Job Description:
· Minimum 3 years of Full Development Life Cycles in OLTP and DW projects
· Five or more years of experience in the software industry (experience in financial and payment systems preferred)
· 5+ years of experience with Oracle, including Oracle9i/10g/11g
· 5+ years of database development support (Data Modeling, performance tuning, etc.)
· 5+ years of experience in writing and debugging complex PL/SQL& SQL code, PL/SQL & SQL tuning
· 5+ years of experience in physical characteristics such as designing tables, relationships, data partition, efficient indexes, storage allocation, capacity planning, etc.
· 3+ years Oracle Experience with Linux/Unix/Windows platforms TOAD, ERD Tools
· Provide Support for critical Production Issues.
· some ETL development experience with Informatica is a plus
· Excellent time management, written and communication skills, decision making, presentation, relationship and organization skills
· Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
· Highly motivated with a commitment to quality service
· Must be able to accurately estimate project resources and accurately project completion timelines
· Participate in translating Functional/Business requirements for OLTP and Data warehouse systems into logical/physical database designs ( Oracle and SQL Server)
· Implement efficient databases designs for performance and scalability, reliability and maximum availability
· Participate in Design and Technical Specification review and deployment to production
· Communicate status of project and development activities to management
· Strong verbal and written communication skills are a positive due to dynamic nature of discussions with other engineering and product teams
· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science is required and MSCS preferred
Pointers by client:
The candidate should have on-the-job experience with Oracle as a pre-requisite. It doesn't matter whether the experience is with on-line transaction systems or with data warehouse or ETL. However the candidate should be able to intelligently discuss basic issues with on-line transaction systems. In the Oracle world it's not common to have well-rounded experience but well-rounded knowledge is essential for this position.
Also, if the candidate actually has minimal or even no experience with on-line transaction systems – if they are knowledgeable, that combination could make them motivated to come on our team to gain the experience.
