Roles and responsibility | •Design and develop interface processes using SQL Server Integration Services, TSQL and Stored Procedures •Consult with the business to determine logical design for new business solutions •Perform code reviews, analyze execution plans, and re-factor inefficient code •Follow established database standards, resolve data issues, complete unit testing and system documentation for ETL processes •Collaborate with business analysts, subject matter experts, and other team members to determine data extraction and transformation requirements •Collaborate with IT operations and testing organizations to ensure timely releases of projects and make sure database environments are sustainable •Collaborate with IT operations to perform root cause analysis •Support IT staff and business users in the development, usage and troubleshooting of database-driven applications •Support the development of software programs. •Use customer requirements to improve functionality (speed, performance / usability). •Conduct system tests, troubleshoot customer issues and correct database defects. •Respond quickly to bug fixes and enhancement requests. •Support maintenance of local databases •Follow directions and complete tasks on-time with minimal supervision. •Be proficient with SQL Server development tools and Visual Studio / TFS. •Work in a team environment as part of an agile (scrum) team •Work on multiple assignments concurrently under aggressive deadlines •Provide after-hours support (when required) |
Desirable Technical / Functional Skills & Attributes | Understand and evaluate SQL and or Data Modeling. Design and develop T-SQL procedures, query performance tunings and SSIS packages. Develop underlying data models and databases. Develop, manage and maintain data dictionary and or metadata. Ensure compliance with established standards, and industry best practices in developing programs. Translate business requirements into software applications and models. Resolve and troubleshoot complex issues. Perform and execute data extraction, transformation and loading using ETL tools. Maintain and manage all versions of data models for production, testing and developing databases. Communicate effectively with non-technical people (business sponsors/product owners). Be a forward-thinker with the ability to improvise, learn new concepts, and to be creative. Microsoft SQL Server Certification preferred (but not required). |
