Job Description

Norfolk Southern Corporation is currently seeking a Mid-Level Java/J2EE Application Developer for a 6 month contract position located in Atlanta, GA (Midtown).  The successful candidate will augment our current Java development team building and supporting web and mobile applications.  There may be some required on-call responsibility (approximately 1 week on-call every 10 weeks).  

Required Skills  

•             Minimum 3+ years of most recent experience in a professional environment designing and developing Java web and/or mobile HTML5 applications

•             Minimum 5+ years of total experience in a professional environment developing Java web and/or mobile HTML5 applications

•             Proficiency in:

o             Java and J2EE (WebLogic 10.x)

             Servlets and POJO's§

o             JavaScript

o             HTML5/CSS3

o             SQL

o             Creating web services (such as SOAP/RESTful)

o             Knowledge of multi-threaded programming and message based processing systems

Preferred Skills

•             ExtJS

•             Eclipse

•             Adobe CQ5 (AEM)

•             WebLogic Portal 10.x

•             Apache Jackrabbit

•             Apache Sling

•             Apache Felix

•             UI/graphic design experience

•             JDBC

•             IBM DB2 UDB

 

Education:  Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required.  Preferably in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
