Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Systems and Data Services (DSDS), maintain responsibility for day to day operations and administration of storage infrastructure. Perform all duties assigned by the DSDS. Must know, practice and ensure that company policies and procedures and state and federal laws are followed at all times. Ensure that no company, employee or customer information is inappropriately divulged to unauthorized parties.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Install and configure upgrades of Disk Subsystems and SANs. This primarily includes EMC VMAX, EMC VNX/CLARiiON, Cisco MDS storage switches, NetApp (Cluster Mode), and HP 3PAR storage arrays..
· Install and configure upgrades of AIX drivers, patches, HBA cards, etc as well as helping to define and test standards for such.
· Research and test new technologies in storage platforms and assist in purchasing decisions.
· Assist with the enterprise backup system as necessary, verify system recoverability, and work with hardware and software vendors as needed.
· Consult with internal customers to determine needs and provide solutions which fit within corporate and IT goals.
· Conduct resource utilization monitoring to identify issues and find solutions before impacting business processes and applications.
· Forecast storage growth and upgrades, monitor storage systems and SAN resource utilization.
· Architect designs and solutions for Tier 1 systems and applications.
· Mentor and train Unix administrators.
· Ensure proper follow-through on all directives, bulletins and schedules from the Corporate Office and DSDS. Maintain a good flow of communication with the Department employees and within the Corporation.
· Make sure customers receive prompt, efficient and courteous attention for all contacts and transactions. Be familiar with procedures for handling all aspects of customer complaints and disputes and resolve any customer complaints in a friendly, courteous manner. Advise the DSDS of serious complaints or incidents.
· Practice and promote teamwork at all times. Set a good personal example of attitude and performance.
· Monitor all area related conditions, property and equipment within corporate standards for cleanliness, proper maintenance and safety. Advise Maintenance of all breakdowns and maintenance immediately.
· Make sure all area conditions do not threaten employee safety. Respond to and follow proper procedures on employee accidents, injuries, and loss or damage to any property. Report all incidents immediately. Practice and instruct all employees in proper loss prevention and reaction procedures. Report all incidents properly and immediately.
· Project management of project work
o Validating that key milestones are reached
o Escalation to DSDS when timelines are estimated to fall behind schedule
o Requesting volunteers for new project requests
· Weekly reviews with DSDS
o Discuss resource assignments
o Discuss project timelines
o Discuss risk management
· Provide Team representation in Change Control meeting
· Provide input to platform support rotation schedule
Educational Requirements and Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required. Five (5) plus years of system administration experience with Windows servers and/or Unix Servers and hardware or equivalent knowledge required. Must have understanding of Storage Area Networks, Disk Subsystems including I/O operations, spindle counts, etc., and LAN, SAN, and Server systems interoperation. Experience with Cisco IOS/SAN-OS and Veritas Clustering productions (Storage Foundation, 9iRAC, etc) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
The physical activity requirements of the position are Light Physical Work.
Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision comparable to definitions for Clerical, Administrative, Machine Operators (including inspection) positions.
Physical Working Condition:
The position is subject to both inside and outside environmental working conditions, including temperature changes, outside weather conditions, slightly elevated ambient noise levels, and minor atmospheric conditions affecting skin or respiratory systems, such as fumes, odors and dusts associated with automobile operations and emissions.
