Job Title : Senior Vmware/ Virtualization Engineer
Location : Denver, CO
Duration : 1+Year Contract, Contract to hire possible
Job Requirements in addition to Job Description Below:
High end person – architect level 6 + years of experience with core Vmware strength
Hardware piece – least important
Need a depth of knowledge in Vcenter, Vsphere, VRA, VRO, Vrealize, Etc. full stack knowledge. Cisco UCS experience is a plus
Need a VMware consultant right now more focused on VDI – knows Vsphere, but more VDI specialized
Heavy experience with Clustering, Cloud architecture, designing a VDI solution that is robust, etc. and making sure they've done this before in other environments.
Currently running 6.2 working on moving to 7.2 to get to all the cloud features. This would take place immediately after the datacenter move.
This person must require knowledge of fundamental building blocks to understand the general landscape. They must know how things work together and connect. If someone has knowledge and experience in this area this person will be successful even if they don't have exact matches, they should be able to catch on fairly quickly.
The Sr. Virtualization Engineer will design, build, deploy and maintain the enterprise virtual infrastructure consisting of VMware and Microsoft technologies within our globally distributed data center environment. Additionally, the Engineer will play a key role in the architecture of future cloud and hybrid data center virtualization while providing leadership and direction to ensure stability, integrity, and day-to-day performance optimization of the environment.
You will be responsible for:
Perform standard changes and provide escalation support for complex technical issues per ITIL methodologies
Design, build, plan, and implement VMware-based virtual infrastructure in accordance with best practices for servers and desktops within global data centers and advising on existing system designs and automated processes improvements
Participate in a Tier 3 on-call rotation
Experience defining standard operating procedures for operations
Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
Experience with vMotion, DRS, HA, and other advanced ESX features and toolsets
Experience with vRealize Orchestrator and vRealize Automation (vRO / vRA)
Strong understanding of Microsoft-based technologies, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Systems Center and Hyper-V
Desired Skills and Experience:
VCP 5/6 certification required - additional VMware training and certifications preferred
BS or MS in Computer Science or related field
10+ years experience in IT, demonstrating an increasing level of responsibility and technological acumen
6+ years experience with virtual server infrastructure management, support, and implementation in mid- to large-sized data centers
Familiar with the following:
Cisco UCS, HP or other Intel-based server hardware
SAN technologies such as NetApp and EMC
Strong analytic and research skills
Experience with RFP evaluations and requirements definition
