Position: Senior Java Developer (Minimum 8 Year)

Location: Austin, TX

Duration: 3+ Months and extension possible

Roles and responsibilities:

A.     Use Microsoft tools and technologies as well as other programming experience to update and refine existing claims processing systems and peripheral support systems within the division.

B.     Clarify, understand and document business rules and requirement specifications for both ownership and viability modules in collaboration with business area staff and other IT project team staff.

C.     Conduct and lead systems and user acceptance testing, document inconsistencies and defects, and work to resolve them.

D.     Conduct and lead integration testing between internal DADS divisions and external agencies.

E.      Define, document, and understand all data definitions, business processes, business meaning and usage of DADS Claims Management operational information based on leading requirement elicitation sessions.

F.      Coordinate with IT project technical leads to ensure necessary underlying data is acquired.

G.     Confer with management, staff, and other stakeholders on status, progress, and issues.

H.     Other duties as assigned.

            Minimum Requirements:

Years	Skills/Experience
8	Experience in the Information Technology industry.
5	Analysis and development experience in complete software development life cycle, including designing, developing, testing, integrating and deploying applications.
5	Experience in SQL programming and object-oriented (i.e., OOD) analysis and design. Experience with JAVA and J2EE technologies, and interactions with relational databases.  Ability to create, read and understand Oracle-based stored procedures or a relational database application.
5	Experience with system integration testing.
3	Experience facilitating interpersonal interactions involving design, development, testing, peer reviews, and implementation activities including developers, business analysts, development and QA teams while ensuring that system requirements are documented, complete and accurate, and that system support, release notes and maintenance documentation is complete.
3	Ability to elicit requirements from multiple stakeholders with different knowledge areas, clearly and concisely document identified requirements, and provide an integrated solution for projects of varying size and complexity.
2	Experience developing user acceptance and systems test plans, test scenarios, test processes and schedules, and pre-test training.  Experience designing and coordinating defect reporting and validating defect fixes.
Strong	Understanding of data structures, data migration/conversion/transformation and concepts of both relational and multi-dimensional database design.
Strong	Team player with ability to mentor and train others.
Strong	Analytical, interpersonal, technical, and both oral and written communication skills; relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; independently performs a variety of complicated tasks with a wide degree of creativity.
Demonstrated	Experience working in a team environment.

        

            Preferences:

Years	Skills/Experience
5	Experience working with Texas state agencies in an information technology setting.
2	Experience with DADS systems.
Strong	Ability to learn and use new software or other productivity tools.
