The Business Intelligence Developer position designs, develops, and implements new reporting and business intelligence solutions using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Reporting (SSRS) & Analysis Services (SSAS), Microsoft SharePoint 2007/2010 (MOSS), and Microsoft Office (Excel/Access 2007+).
This position will also maintain legacy reporting applications, provide ad hoc query/reporting support as needed to meet business and customer demands.
Responsibilities
- This position will serve as the primary liaison with the Finance group and should be able to understand and interpret financial data. Must be able to effectively collaborate with Finance and other cross functional business units to define reporting requirements and design end-user focused BI solutions.
- Implement management reports, dashboards, and analytic solutions using SQL Reporting Services, Excel, and SharePoint. Includes migrating legacy reporting solutions to newer technologies.
- Implement end-user self-service reporting solutions using SQL Reporting Services, Excel, and SharePoint using data from relational databases and SQL Server Analysis Services cubes.
- Develop ad hoc queries as needed to meet business requirements, and provide support for legacy reporting applications.
- Collaborate with management to define KPI (Key Performance Indicator) requirements and measures; implement business scorecards for Senior Management.
- Interface with developers to review and optimize reporting query logic and design; optimize and tune queries.
- Interface with Data Architects, DBAs, and Quality Assurance Analysts on data requirements and Quality Assurance.
- Administer the BI SharePoint Portal and SQL Reporting Services environment, including User Management, Configuration, and Managing the runtime environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years experience reporting experience using SQL Server 2005/2008 Reporting and Analysis Services, MS Access 2007+, MS Excel 2007, and similar technologies.
- Solid business analysis skills and the ability to translate end-user requirements into functional reporting requirements.
- Focus on delivering systems / reports offer the highest accuracy, reliability and performance possible.
- Able to work effectively in a team environment
- Proficient with time and task management
- Ability to create and maintain positive and professional business relationships with team members and external customers
- Knowledge of the insurance/healthcare industry preferred.
- Knowledge of VB.NET, C#, VBA programming is a plus.
- College degree in management information systems or equivalent experience working in a reporting/analyst role required.
