Summary: The Enterprise Cloud team of NC Shared Services is looking for a Cloud Operations Process Engineer. A Cloud Operations Process Engineer will lead a small, high-end team. The role requires a deep understanding of best-practice processes around cloud related images, server deployment, configuration, administration, networking and key applications and services running on public cloud, virtualized and non-virtualized platforms. This person will also need to have a solid understanding of ITIL processes as they relate to public/private cloud operations, governance, management and support. The roles primary focus is reviewing existing process and developing, integrating and simplifying the ongoing operational support of cloud instances and application deployments of the company's applications in the public and private cloud. In addition, Cloud Operations Process Engineers are responsible for creating and improving policies, procedures, procedures and facilitating communication. Other duties include researching, proofing, and authoring process documentation that are beneficial to the company. This is a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual who wants to leverage his or her solid and broad skills to make a major impact to the successful implementation of a critical highly visible program. Responsibilities: Lead the operational analysis, development and implementation of best-in-class policy, processes & procedures. Develop cloud operational improvement delivery plans, manage and lead the cloud operational improvement team and own the issue/risk resolutions associated with the efforts. Review existing cloud operations, determine gaps and make best practice recommendations Drive process innovation and efficiency in cloud infrastructure operations via automation and industry best practices. Work effectively with cross-functional teams to identify cloud operational improvement opportunities. Required Skills: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering Technology, or technical degree and/or certifications Experience with operational processes related to public cloud and virtualization technologies such as VMWare and KVM. Understanding of monitoring processes and application deployment process with open source tools such as kickstart, chef, and puppet are a plus. Experience with processes related to deploying and operating Linux/Red Hat variants in a cloud environment Experience with processes related to deploying and operating Windows in a cloud environment Critical attention to detail, thoroughness and documentation Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly in documenting and teaching operational cloud processes Ability to work with minimal supervision, making decisions based upon priorities, schedules and an understanding of business initiatives. Ability to work as part of a team in building, administering, and deploying automated systems and application deployments especially in an enterprise environment Desired Skills: Understanding of a broad range of cloud technologies in an automated deployment environment including S3, EC2, EBS, VPC, and Cloud Health experience with operational cloud processes related to public cloud providers (AWS, Google & Azure) Experience implementing and supporting enterprise system monitoring tools Experience in a DevOps environment Additional Details from Management: This is a VERY important role for the team. Successful candidate will be leading a small group (one other person). She/he will be analyzing existing processes, reviewing gaps and making recommendations for improvement. Must have solid experience with Development operations, Process re-engineering. Initial duration is 6 months, however can extend based on business need. Must Have: BS Degree min 10+ years of relevant experience in the Tech process or Cloud space Experience in a leadership role Experience implementing procedures ITIL is a nice to have Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills Would consider candidates from various industries; media, pharmaceutical, financial services are all okay.
