Software Engineer (Java, Python, Ruby)

Summary:
We are moving to a new platform from one vendor to a new vendor. Move all tools, scripts and everything to new platform. Bulk of work in Python and Ruby. And a little work in Java. What makes a good applicant is that they show signs of independent work. Signs of creative solutions to challenging problems and have years of experience in python and Ruby with experience in Java and Linux programming. They will be working with other developers, who are the original authors of the tool. Mindful of continual maintenance. The communication in old system is done in restful web interface, but they are completely two different interfaces.
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of this role is the modification of existing automated processes, software libraries and applications written primarily in Python (some Ruby and Java) in order to switch to a new internal ticketing system. Activities include analyzing current software, developing a migration plan, modifying software, and deploying updates. Code changes will be tracked using Github issues. Deployments will be tracking using enterprise ticketing system.
Basic Qualifications:
• 4+ years as a software developer
• Advanced Python programming
• Moderate Ruby programming
• Moderate Linux shell programming (bash/csh/ksh/zsh/etc)
• Experience providing operationally focused automation and tools
• Experience working with distributed source control solutions (git/hg/bazaar/etc)
• Experience integrating services via RESTful interfaces
Advanced Qualifications:
• 6+ years as a software developer
• Advanced Python programming
• Advanced Ruby programming
• Advanced bash shell programming
• Moderate Java programming
• Significant experience providing operationally focused automation and tools
• Experience working with git/Github
• Experience working with Chef
