This is our direct-client opening for a QA Tester located in New York City, NY. This is a 6-12+ month contract and our client is primarily interested in candidates who are local to the New York area.

Responsibilities:
Design and executive test plans on computer applications.
Record and document results and compare to expected results.
Detect software failures so that defects may be discovered and corrected.
Generate historical analysis of test results.
Document anomalies and issues.
Maintain database of software defects.
Provide application instructions for users.
Develop and document application test plans based on software requirements and technical specifications.
Create meaningful error handling documentation for application developers.
Ensure compliance with QA test best practices, accepted web standards
Perform application security audits.
Implement application designs, create SQL queries, scripts, web pages and other deliverables.
Participate in application design and planning meetings.
Ensure data integrity standards.
Create a library of unit tests, use cases, and test cases for regression test purposes.
Qualifications:
College degree or equivalent.
Experienced application systems QA tester with end to end SDLC exposure, preferably in the Financial Guarantee or insurance or fixed income financial industries. Must be able to comprehend and work with unfamiliar concepts and learn new processes and data.
Must be knowledgeable and skilled in both manual (Excel based) and automated testing and test tools.
Must be able to recommend, implement and use test tools and improve QA test policies, practices and procedures.
Must be self motivated, inquisitive, goals oriented, a team player, and be able to work closely with developers.
Must be able to assist developers with improving the user experience in an application.
Must be able to plan create and execute test plans.
Must be experienced with the following: Team Foundation Server, Microsoft Test Manager (or equivalent or better), T-SQL, Excel,
Must be able to create use cases and data driven test cases
Clear communicator (written and verbal) – to ensure ability to write test plans and test cases. To communicate bugs to developers and other stakeholders
Creative solving of technical problems – to ensure the ability translate technical requirements test plans
Ability to focus on deadlines and deliverables – ensures the ability to find the bad defects and bugs quickly
Ability to think abstract – to ensure ability to not conform to the norm. Norms do not find bugs quickly.
