Role & Responsibilities
Required
Perform Architect/SME role for Linux environment.
Perform system administration tasks on Linux/UNIX systems to meet performance, availability, security, and operational requirements in a fast paced business critical environment.
Installation and deployment of physical and virtual Linux/UNIX systems.
Recommend and implement infrastructure design changes for the Linux/UNIX environment.
Recommend and implement automated solutions to support the Linux/UNIX environment.
Recommend and implement monitoring and reporting solutions.
Recommend and implement appropriate Linux/UNIX system utilities.
Perform performance review of Linux/UNIX systems and recommend and implement appropriate changes.
Perform capacity planning.
Work well with Linux/UNIX team, cross functional teams, and management. Present findings and recommendations to senior management.
Required Candidate Profile
(Job Requirements/Descriptions)
Profile:
10+ years of large enterprise Linux/UNIX infrastructure experience on physical and VM's. This should include significant senior level experience with RHEL systems. A qualified candidate will live and breathe Linux. Previous architect level experience desired.
Extensive experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions 5 and 6 required.
Design and architecting skills - Efficient in designing and planning of new technologies and driving implementation.
Should have good understanding of infrastructure management processes.
Good communication (written & oral), strong presentation skills, quick learner, self-initiated, team player, willing to travel or work flexible hours if required.
Experience with AIX desirable.
Technical Skills Required
(only for technical hires)
Key skills required: (in the order of priority)
Extensive experience with the full configuration and management of RHEL5 and RHEL6 systems (physical and virtual).
Highly knowledgeable and experienced in the build and deployment of physical and virtual RHEL systems. This is expected to include through working knowledge of kickstart, Yum, rpm, RHNS and other technologies.
Solid Linux fundamentals including networking, LVM, file systems (ext3/ext4), NFS, SMTP, SNMP, DNS, NTP, security, and the kernel.
Solid server side knowledge of SAN, NAS, RAID (array storage side experience is not necessarily required).
Knowledge and experience with Red Hat IPA
Strongly skilled with scripting languages such as bash, ksh, and Perl.
Automation of repetitious tasks.
Investigate, recommend, implement, and maintain tools to aid in the automation of alerting and monitoring of Linux/UNIX systems using industry standard technologies (these might include adoption of tools such as Nagios, Cacti, SCOM, or others).
Extraordinary troubleshooting abilities
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-paced, growing, and evolving environment.
Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects through their entire life cycle
Act as interface between systems group & corporate managers and end users as necessary.
Technical Skills Desirable
Experience with AIX system administration is highly desirable.
Cross-functional experience in networking, SANs, global load balancing, and databases.
Developing, implementing, deploying, and supporting advanced virtualization and data storage strategies
