Position:: Network Engineer
Location:: Austin, TX
Duration:: Contract role
Client: State Client.
Rate: $45/hr on c2c
State Date: Next week Monday (Interview Friday this week)
Description
Performs highly complex (senior-level) computer network systems and services work. Plans, designs, and evaluates new and existing computer network systems and services, including local area networks, wide area networks, intranets, and the Internet, providing analytical, technical, and administrative support. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
High Level:
· Essential Responsibilities:
· Develops and implements network policies and procedures and ensures network integrity as maintenance and modification projects to existing applications are undertaken.
· Coordinates and implements network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
· Assists in ensuring the availability, security, consistency and effectiveness of the company network infrastructure.
· Participates in cross-functional meetings that identify risks and issues and creates plans to mitigate and resolve them.
· Troubleshoots network issues.
· Installs and upgrades network equipment and software.
· Assists in creating and maintaining documentation relating to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
· Assists in establishing and documenting network technical support processes and procedures.
· Assists with network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications.
· Assists in establishing voice and network standards regarding new technologies and applications.
· Assists in monitoring and testing network performance and providing network performance statistics and reports.
· Assists clients, customers, and vendors to resolve technical issues as needed.
· Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Network Engineers to assist DSHS with the management of DSHS Network and Monitoring.
· Personnel will provide input during the integration Services as required.
· Will manage where applicable (Syslog, IPAM, NTP, SNMP, DNS, DHCP Scopes, etc.).
· Provides advanced troubleshooting as deemed appropriate with the network infrastructure components.
· Provides primary cabling plant (UTP and fiber) management and administration.
· Provides primary support and administration of the network security infrastructure (firewalls, IDS, SPAN Ports, etc.).
