New request from client for Network System Engineering.
Responsibilities
Lead commercial video delivery project through entire development life cycle from kick-off to production deployment
Lead design review meetings with multiple involved parties
Define system test and deployment plan
Ensure project fully satisfies the specified requirements
Ensure cross-department technical alignment
Address technical issues to ensure appropriate resolution (identify gaps, decision-making with coordination of the technical teams, drive resolution of issues and escalate accordingly)
Foster a collaborative environment
Define system level specifications
Perform systems analysis, requirements analysis, and requirements/test traceability
Partner with project management team to meet schedule
Review and sign off on every phase and delivery of the project
Coordinate training and handoff to the different operations teams
Drive Go/No Go decisions
Support warranty period in production
Perform post mortem analysis and documentation
Minimum Qualifications:
BS Degree in Engineering or related field and at least 5 years of experience in the area of systems engineering, design, and integration. MS degree preferred.
Experience developing, designing, or architecting applications for video delivery of playback
Experience in business systems analysis, requirements definition and high-level architectural designs
Understanding of software development methodologies and structured approaches to system development
Excellent multitasking and time management skills with consistent attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate technical issues and solutions to all levels of the organization
Able to lead meetings and effectively summarize and prioritize topics
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Good leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at many levels
Ability to work in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
Ability to quickly learn and communicate value of new technologies to technical and non-technical audiences
Nice to Have:
MS or advanced technical degree in engineering, computer science or related discipline.
Knowledge of latest video and over the top delivery technologies
Experience with OTT, cable, or satellite video delivery.
Experience with video standards such as MPEG and DASH
Experience with CA, DRM, STBs, and CDNs
Experience with object-oriented design and development, Java, J2EE
Experience with SOAP, REST web services
Experience with Application Performance Monitoring tools
Ability to perform system and network load analysis
Knowledge of existing DIRECTV applications
Knowledge of network technologies (MPLS, routing protocols, forwarding), common infrastructure components (IPAM, DNS, DHCP), load balancers, and firewalls
