Sr ETL Developer with Data Services and SSIS

Job Description:

As a member of the Business Intelligence (BI) team, this individual will understand the business problem and provide end to end support of application delivery of various Business Intelligence solutions. The individual will also be involved in all phases of software development lifecycle and assist the team to implement the most optimal ETL based BI solutions. The creation and maintenance of best practices, standards documents, and optimization whitepapers are important function of this resource.

 

Responsibilities:

• Work on/Lead various ETL based initiatives in line with the department development standards and the industry standard ETL best practices
• Analyze, document and communicate data integration requirements related to BI needs and objectives, and coordinate requirements with data owners and custodians
• Assess and propose solutions to improve the BI delivery architecture to evolve with business needs, including recommending data marts and data warehouse structures
• Establish and enforce standards to avoid redundancy and encourage standardization and consistency among reporting products and processes
• Design and build Data Marts, Data Feeds, Data Cubes, Universes, Data Warehouse Subject Areas, etc for BI reporting
• Design and build graphs, charts and advanced SQL statements, develop scorecards, write and implement ETL scripts, tune tables and scripts for performance
• Create and maintain technical application documentation; including design specifications, test plans, application architecture, data flows, use cases and workflows
• Provide top notch solution using BI/ETL technologies (Especially Business Objects Data Services/Data Integrator)
• Analyze the current state of the business processes and provide in-depth analysis, documentation and a proposed future state solution.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Good Analytical & Leadership skills, Strong client communication skills and team mentoring skills
• In-depth understanding of the ETL Lifecycle and implementation methodology in line with the Ralph Kimball Data Warehousing concepts
• Experience designing data models for 2+ large project ( $500K plus )
• Ability to convert business requirements into functional and technical requirements
• At least 5 years' experience developing ETL scripts for BI products (Business Objects Data Integrator)
• Over 7 years' experience in various forms of data modeling, including relational and star schema.
• Proficiency and demonstrated ability to design and develop numerous graphs, charts and advanced SQL statements, develop scorecards, create data structures to support requirements, write and implement ETL scripts, tune tables and scripts for performance.
• Demonstrated versatility in assuming a variety of responsibilities on BI projects, including hands-on project management, customer communication, requirements analysis and coordination, architecture design, and technical lead
• At least 10 years of progressive accomplishment as an expert BI designer and developer, defining and implementing requirements across multiple information technology platforms.

Data Analyst (SQL & ETL)

Detroit, MI

12 + months contract

Rate: $48/hr C2C / $40/hr on W-2

H1B/USC/GC

 

Top Three Technical Skills/Experience

 

1.  Prior experience analyzing data for a healthcare payer, strong knowledge of claims and membership data, as well as the associated business processes is required.  Experience with clinical data is a plus.

 

2.  Strong knowledge of concepts and prior experience working within an Enterprise Data Warehouse environment with numerous data sources and data volumes in the terabytes.

 

3.  Ability to perform analysis with little/no direction, proactively identify potential issues in the data and conduct research to determine the best course of action to correct the data

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

·  5+ years prior experience as a data analyst or data architect within healthcare, preferably with a payor, should have performed data analytics on daily basis as a primary role

·  Strong knowledge of Claims and Membership data and the associated business processes

·  Demonstrated expertise in writing and analyzing complex SQL queries is required

·  Understanding of Enterprise Data Warehouse concepts and prior experience applying that understanding to query data in a Very Large Database (VLDB) environment

·  Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver within tight timelines while being flexible in adapting to new roles

·  Knowledge of data modeling concepts both in a multi-layer data warehouse (Normalized / Inmon) and  data mart (Dimensional / Kimball)

·  Ability to work with multiple areas within organization to get business objectives, data requirements etc.

·  Identify problematic areas and conduct research to determine the best course of action to correct the data

·  Ability to interpret data that is not well defined or documented and develop recommendations based on findings

·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to present findings and recommendations and to business users or leadership

 

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

·  Previous experience with data modeling tools such as Informatica Data Explorer (IDE) and data quality tools such as Informatica Data Quality (IDQ)

·  Understand Cognos 10.2 reporting tool (frame work / Studios/ reporting)

·  Knowledge of Informatica, ability to read / analyze existing code and be able to propose innovative solutions and modifications.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in related field required.  Master's Degree in related field preferred
