Job Title: Business Analyst with Cognos

Location: Troy, MI

Duration:6+ months

Business Analyst with Cognos is highly preferred.

•Participates in the requirements development for applying business needs to technical applications within the Business Intelligence of the Global Automotive Services group.

•Will be involved with various aspects of the requirements design process.

•May define and document internal and external user interfaces, support system, and data requirement clarification and definition.

•May support prototyping activities that will validate business requirements, solution definition and minimize risk.

•Works directly with team members from business sectors and the applications development team.

•Will assist in design validation, quality assurance and defining testing strategy and risks

•Principal Accountabilities:

•Develop and document requirements to new project and enhancements to existing applications, including but not limited to CRM, data warehousing, reporting and analytics using traditional waterfall or agile methodologies

•Understands company goals and practices and applies them when resolving a variety of problems.

•Receives only general instructions on new work.

•Uses judgment and creativity and sound technical knowledge to obtain and recommend solutions.

•May interface with senior management to convey information

•Can influence customer requirements to balance between what's being asked versus what's right for a world class financial and IT institution, and find the right compromise

•Negotiates to resolve customer issues by seeking win-win solutions that add value to the customer

•Perform system requirements definition (RD) processes and modeling methods and tools

•Conceptual and logical modeling

•Coach and mentor other lower level business systems analysts

•Support prototyping activities that will validate business requirements and solution definition

•Ability to apply general organizational knowledge of the business and systems processes in problem analysis

•Makes a commitment to ensure that a customer's needs are met by taking personal responsibility for service and quality. 

•Appreciates how each customer views satisfaction may vary depending upon their specific needs.

•To the extent that it is reasonable, goes the "extra mile" to make sure that each individual's needs are met.

•Follows up to monitor satisfaction and responds to additional requests or problems quickly

•Outlines potential cost/savings outcomes of technology use.

•Troubleshoots or addresses significant limitations or problems of technology applications

•Understands how the IT group operates and how his/her role meets customer needs and creates value.

•Understands how Ally operates and the interactions between departments and customer groups

•Can train end users in BI reporting tools usage - in particular Cognos 10
