JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Title: SQA Automation Engineer

 

 

                         

Job Summary: SQA Automation Engineer is responsible for planning, developing and implementing automation design, reviewing and creating automated functional tests. This Automation Engineer will possess the necessary skills and experience to understand product infrastructure and technologies to deliver on these initiatives. This position will require you to work with multiple SQA members and developers, with different degrees of knowledge in automation.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Define, create and manage test data.

Create automated test plans, test scripts & documented processes based on project documentation.

Develop automated system test scripts and tools to ensure functionality meets software and customer specifications.

Assist in the creation of new testing processes and procedures.

Document and track defects and issues found during system testing.

Interface with project development members to assist with solving quality risks.

Apply and improve the utilization of software and hardware tools.

Assist in the creation of new automated testing approaches and techniques.

Assist with training effort of new systems implementation as needed.

Assist with creation of testing automation software/scripts to improve performance and efficiencies.

Produce status and operational reports.

Research, recommend and establish test automation best practices to encourage well-documented and reproducible testing results.

Education and Experience:

 

Associates Degree required: Bachelor’s of Arts /Bachelor’s of Science in computer science or a computer related discipline preferred, or the equivalent experience in computer related field.

3-5 plus years experience in software development environment.

 

Technical Knowledge:

 

Knowledge of application development methodologies.

Expert experience with white-box and black-box testing (Required).

Strong skills in application development (Java Required).

Strong skills in automation (framework) design techniques.

Strong skills in interpreting functional and system documentation.

Strong skills in evaluating test case documentation for accuracy and completeness.

Strong analytical and conceptualization skills.

Strong manual web and backend testing background required.

Understanding of agile development and testing methodologies.

Understanding of Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing and Continuous Deployment.

Expert experience with automation tools required:

Selenium (Required)

Twist (Desired)

HP QuickTest Pro (Desired)

Eggplant (Desired)

Other

Experience with HP ALM (Quality Center) (Desired):

Managing QTP automation artifacts in ALM (Desired)

HP Quality Center OTA API working experience (Desired)

Working experience with API’s. Should be able to understand functions and methods provided for a given API and use them for automation purposes (Required)

Strong understanding of database structure and design. Strong working experience with:

Oracle (Required)

MySQL (Required)

Mongo (Strongly Desired)

Strong experience the programmatic creation, manipulation and verification of files in various formats:

CSV (Required)

XML (Required)

JSON (Strongly Desired)

Web Services testing experience (Strongly  Desired)

Understand project management process methodologies.

Identify when and how to get issues resolved and decisions made.

 

Interpersonal Skills:

Demonstrate strong leadership skills that can provide focus for a group to work together to produce a professional quality product.

 

Working Conditions:

 

Office environment.

Able and willing to work extended hours as may be required to support existing applications and to meet delivery dates for new or revised applications.

 

Travel Requirements:

 

5-10%
