Our client needs help evaluating a computer system.
The system is JD Edwards running on an AS400.
They are utilizing AR/AP/GL/inventory/warehousing modules.
Software version is old – more than 10 years.
Nothing integrated currently, but working on an integration project.
The underlying DB software is OS-2.
Person needs to have expertise with JD Edwards and AS400.
Logistical information:
-Engagement is at client’s location – Long Island City, NY
-Timing – need someone Immd or ASAP, rate is open
-Duration – approximately 3-4 days; there is potential for additional work, just not sure at this time

This is an assessment assignment to start with and hoping will turn into a longer term project with a systems upgrade etc.
Need to have good communication and client relationship skills as they will be working without supervision, and in conjunction with a private equity firm that is very demanding.
Accounting knowledge/experience will be helpful.
The client is in the process of restating their financials.
The assessment is to understand whether the system is part of the problem, or whether the problem is from the type of data that is input into the system (garbage in / garbage out).
If the assessment shows that the system is the problem, then a new system implementation or major upgrade is what we will recommend and hopefully this will turn into a nice long engagement.
