Position : Certified Business Intelligence Consultant
Duration : 6+ Months
Location : San Antonio, Texas
Microsoft Business Intelligence Developer JOB SUMMARY (3 Resources needed, duration = 2013 – likely similar to a senior systems programmer)
The BI Developer is responsible for report development utilizing expert SSAS and SSRS skills. He/she will work with Users, Business Representatives, Business Analysts, and Technical Coordinators to clarify requirements, recommend methods, design solutions, develop reporting objects, optimize cubes, document deliverables, and test the output. Development will include as much of the report complexity in the lower layers of the BI Solution as is expedient (e.g. Data Warehouse Views first, Cube Formulas second, and Reporting Constructs last).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Design and develop visually appealing business intelligence using: SSRS, SSAS, Excel, SharePoint, and 3rd-party BI tools.
2. Support organizational decision-making by turning disparate data into concise and actionable information.
3. Design and develop data cubes and reports that utilize those cubes.
- Mentor project team members to ensure an efficient, self-managed team.
- Optimize and maintain existing BI functionality while designing and deploying new solutions.
- Pursue continuous improvement of data quality, standardization of data management processes, efficiency, and quality of service.
- Develop and maintain technical specifications and end user documentation of assigned projects and analyses.
- Train process owners to leverage self-service reporting tools and build reports themselves.
DECISION MAKING
· This position works under limited supervision
· Independent problem-solving is essential
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
· 3-5 years of Microsoft business intelligence stack experience
· Fluent in the T-SQL structured query language
· Proven competency in the MDX multi-dimensional query language
· Must have good analytical, conceptual and root cause analysis skills
· Extensive knowledge and experience with Data Warehousing and Data Marts
· Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, SQL Server 2008, and Source Control Software
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (or a closely related field with coursework in technology-related subjects)
· Microsoft BI Developer Certification
· Experience with Cube performance optimization
· Experience developing using 3rd-party dashboard/scorecard products
