Job Description:
The DevOps Engineer will be accountable for the delivery of infrastructure in support of major projects. This role will support the Continuous
Integration model and tooling that is in place today. In addition, this role will help to support Continuous Delivery pipeline to facilitate roll out to
various environments. This role will work directly with the Marriott IT Build and Run teams on a day to day basis to ensure application, automation,
test and infrastructure requirements. The DevOps Engineer will help take ideas from concept to production through the use of DevOps and Open
Source tools, The goal of this position is to facilitate, through automation, the Delivery of services into the Marriott Cloud.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience:
Required:
· 3+ years' experience with RPM based Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Fedora) including: user management, authentication and authorization (LDAP, Kerberos, etc..), Disk Management (Partitioning, backups, LVM, hardware and software RAID), software build (gmake, cmake, GNU autoconf and automake, gcc, libtool, RPM building a major plus), Network Interface Configuration (Ethernet and Wireless), DNS/DHCP knowledge, Basic Knowledge of Networking Protocols, Switching and Routing, Understanding of SSL, Certificates, openSSH, openSSL libraries, Squid, etc.
· 3+ years' experience scripting (Bash, Perl, Python, Ruby)
· 2+ years' experience with running web and application servers such as Apache, Nginx, Tomcat, Node.js, Play, Websphere
· 2+ writing code for one or multiple of the following: Puppet / Chef / Ansible / Saltstack
· 3+ years of operational experience supporting a 99.99% availability
· Experience with global load balancing and web content acceleration using Akamai.
· Jira experience
· Operations and Development experiance
· Understanding of HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP and other web protocols.
· Experience in Agile Methodology and Agile Engineering practices like TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment
· Experience in DevOps tool like Git, JIRA, Jenkins. Maven, Artifactory and Gradle.
· Knowledge of Docker containers.
· Experience with a PaaS solution such as Red Hat OpenShift (preferred), Pivotal Cloud Foundry or BlueMix
· Good knowledge of UI concepts and frameworks - jQuery, HTML5, Responsive Design, JavaScript Frameworks
· Great communication skills and knows how to work effectively within a diverse team
· Operates effectively in a fast-paced, deadline driven, collaborative and iterative programming environment
· Degree in Computer Science or another technical discipline
· Self-motivated but does well in a team based environment. Strong initiative and enthusiasm.
· Experience in core enterprise applications, application development tools.
· Knowledge of change management and testing requirements, techniques, and tools.
· Ability to create constructive relationships, influence, and communicate (to project team, IT management, and non-technical staff).
· Ability to participate in complex, cross-functional problem-solving initiatives.
Preferred:
· Degree in a technical discipline
· Cloud Computing Experiance
· Issue/Bug Tracking/Wiki admin experience with and of JIRA, Python Trac, Ruby Redmine, Perl Bugzilla, PHP Mediawiki, Confluence
· DVCS/SCM admin experience with any of git, svn. cvs, mercurial, bitbucket, work and branching strategies
· Experience in waterfall and agile software methodologies
· Development background with Operations experience.
· Some security background.
