KEY QUALIFICATIONS: · 4+ years of professional experience in Data warehousing technologies. · 4+ years of experience writing advanced SQL, performance tuning of BI queries, Data Modeling, and Data Mining from multiple sources · Proficient in dimensional data modelling, data management, data analysis and semantic layer design · Experience in Cloud Computing Experience (e.g AWS, Azure) · Has worked using agile, iterative development methodologies · Has worked using CI/CD tools · BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
Plusses: · Experience with business intelligence reporting tools such as Micro Strategy or Tableau is a plus · Experience processing real-time data feeds leveraging AWS Kinesis, Kafka, Spark, Storm, etc., is a plus · Experience in API development (REST and SOAP) is a plus
Nordstrom Technology is seeking an Engineer to join the Enterprise Reporting Team to build and support modernized data warehouse, business intelligence, real-time data processing pipeline and ETL/ELT solutions.
The Enterprise Reporting Team delivers business intelligence to thousands of diverse internal customers for all sales reporting. With Nordstrom's rapidly growing business there is high demand that business intelligence is available both accurately and timely.
There are unique challenges in this area which will be addressed with the adoption of new BI technologies as part of a modernization effort.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: · Support the development and evolution of our data warehouse and BI platform · Partner with the Engineering Manager, Engineers, and BI Analysts to build complete BI solutions · Model data and metadata for pre-built reporting · Design and implement ELT and ETL data processing solutions from both on premise (Teradata, Wherescape) and AWS (S3, Redshift, etc.) · Continual performance and query tuning · Contribute new and innovative ideas to the Enterprise Reporting and BI platform roadmap. · Makes decisions which influence and impact the success of team owned projects and/or efforts · Provide occasional on-call production support after hours
