Network Engineer

Job Responsibilities & Duties
· Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records
· Help to develop, implementation and maintaining policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
· Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including UCS servers, routers, hubs, switches, UPSs, and other hardware.
· Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
· Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
· Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
· Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
· Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances.
· Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
· Participate in managing all network security solutions.

Skills and Competencies
· Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation.
· Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
· Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards.
· Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience.
· Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits.
· Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required
· Analyzing existing services and comprehending the planning for needed improvements
· Analyzing existing performance trends and recommending adjustments or changes
· Analyzing audit and security information
· Implementing software patches, security fixes, and tests and validates modified system configurations
· Ensuring compliance with standards for systems software and documentation
· Monitoring system reliability and availability.
· Communicate effectively (in oral and written form) with a variety of individuals; author design documents with the assistance of a project leader; work well within small and large team environments; and analyze problems and resolve issues with both short-term workarounds and long-term solutions.
