The Role
As a senior java software engineer, you'll use data and technology to develop insights, identify opportunities and ultimately build our next generation of products. This team is focused on capturing, processing and storing big data to enable us to measure our success in delighting customers, in both function and performance. Utilize technologies such as Java, Spring, Storm, Kafka, Hadoop, Impala and more to maximize the value of our data, in both real-time and offline modes. The data platform enables us to gain insights that we feedback to our internal and external partners.

What You Do
· Design, build and test massively scalable, highly available data platform services.
· Work with multiple teams to develop requirements and products.
· Explore, identify and champion data and technology opportunities.
· Drive continual improvement to system architecture.
· Strengthen our development methodologies and processes.
Your Opportunity

· Be recognized as a master of, and internal SME for, specific solutions and technologies.
Must Have Skills
· Solid communication and collaboration skills.
· Ability to create well structured, properly designed code for simplicity and maintainability.
· Professional experience involving data modeling, highly concurrent systems and highly available systems.
· Strong Computer Science skills. Must understand the core principles of OO design & development and how to apply them in a highly scaled environment.
· Minimum 5 years experience writing and troubleshooting production Java applications.
· Extensive experience in big data/NoSQL technologies such as Hadoop, Cassandra, etc.
· Experience with RDBMs and SQL.
· Experience building a solution on top of an established framework.
Additional Skills
· Ability to quickly and thoroughly learn and utilize new technologies.
· A deep interest in the data and technologies:
o Real time data processing at scale
o Big data systems
o Web analytics
· Linux knowledge and experience.
· Working experience with a variety of frameworks, systems, etc.
